Inspired by gently striped oyster shells: shades of grey, pewter, beige, brown, and chocolate are blended together with natural baby camel down and fluffy yak down for silky smooth, butter soft rolags. The special touch is the sprinkling of pearl protein fibre for added softness and shine. A total dream to spin! Batt bits are small, soft, fluffy clouds of fibre that are ready to spin.
70% merino 23 mic
14% pearl fibre
8% baby camel
One of the better known sheep breeds, Merino wool can range from ultrafine (at 11.5 microns) to “strong” (25-26 microns), with the coarser end of the range still coming up softer and finer than many other wools out there. The wool is beautifully dense, evenly crimped, and takes on colour well. Perhaps a little slippery for beginners, but a really great wool for spinning and felting. Baby camel down is wonderfully soft, as soft as cashmere, and adds strength to the yarn. Yak down is similarly cashmere-fine, lightweight, warm and lofty.
This listing is for 50g.
This colourway is: repeatable :)
These batt bits have been created on my drum carder, for a mix of colours and fibres.
I would recommend that you gently wash your handspun yarn and the items you've crafted from it by hand, with a special wool soak, hand wash detergent, or gentle baby shampoo to avoid felting. However, if felting floats your boat, really give it some welly!
